CAR AND CYCLE COLLIDE. (Per United Press Association.) Gisborne,. January 13. As the result of a collision between a motor car and a motor cycle on Saturday evening, John Jennings, aged 25, the driver of the cycle, and Joseph Waters, aged 26, pillion rider, were admitted tot hospital but their injuries are not serious. MAN’S BACK INJURED. Gisborne, January 13. While bathing at mid-day to-day, William Robert Walter Plowman, aged 22, dived into the water from the harbour groyne and apparently struck a pile. He was rescued by a companion and it was found that his back was badly injured. He was removed to hospital in a serious condition. BOY DROWNED. Napier, January 11. Grave alarm is felt here for the safety of the two sons of the Rev.*W. J. and Mrs Oxbrow, of Hastings. The two boys, Len, aged 10, and Roy, aged 7; went fishing at Haumoana yesterday morning and have not been seen since. A-shirt and a small pair of pants were found by a search party on the bank of the Tukituki River. The Rev. Oxbrow is at present visiting Auckland. A later message states that the body of Len Oxbrow has been recovered from the river, but there is no sign of the other boy. YOUTH KILLED. Waiffawa, January 12. Hugh Spotswood, aged 16, was killed through the capsize of a lorry on Tamumu road. Deceased, who was learning to drive, pulled off to the side of the road to allow a car to pass, but misjudged the. distance and the l lorry went over a bank, somersaulting and pinning Spotswood underneath, causing a fracture of the skull.
