GERMAN REPARATIONS

EXPERT STUDY OF PROBLEM. UNITED STATES INTERESTED. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Washington, December 21. President Coolidge would be welcome to an invitation from European Governments to participate in the expert study of German reparations, but so far no representations have been received for such a study. The President believes they should be made by representatives left free by their Governments to exercise their own judgments as to what amounts should be paid and what accepted. Mr Coolidge feels that reparations is a matter involving Europe almost entirely. However, he does not want the United States to shirk its duty. If Washington should participate the President hopes there will be no criticism should the United States respond to similar appeals from Central and South America. —Australian Press Associatiori.
