UNEMPLOYED MINERS
OFFER OF WORK REJECTED. Sydney, December 22. Although there are 500 unemployed miners in the Lithgow district, who are willing to work, the Miners’ Federation rejected the offer of the Australian Iron and Steel Company to give temporary employment to at least 100 of these men. The secretary of the federation said the proposal could not be entertained, as it would involve a breach of union principles. —Australian Press Association.
