GROWING POPULATION
FIGURES FOR AUSTRALIA. Sydney, December 19. The Commonwealth Statistician estimates the population of the Commonwealth at the end of September at 6,310,453, being 111,463 more than a year ago. Immigration accounted for 34,975. New South Wales is responsible for nearly half of the increase with a total of 51,973. This State’s population is now nearly 2,500,000. —Australian Press Association.
