BRITISH INDUSTRY
MOVEMENT TO PROMOTE PEACE. ATTITUDE OF EMPLOYERS. Rugby, December 18. Practically all organizations of employers have made their replies' regarding the agreement reached between Lord Melchett’s group of employers and the General Council of the Trade Union Congress to promote peace in industry. Employers who are in touch with the feelings of their colleagues in other industries do not anticipate unqualified acceptance or rejection of all that is contained in the interim report. It is believed that in the main replies will be found to convey approval of the efforts made to ensure a measure of closer cooperation in industry and desire for joint consultation with the General Council of Trade Union Congress. It is stated that a vast majority of employers have been far too interested to think of anything like unqualified rejection. A preliminary conference of an officially representative character may be held early in the New Year. —British Official Wireless.
