Frocks for Day-time

(From Our Correspondent.) Paris. Collar, cuffs and pockets often form the chief scheme of decoration on frocks of the moment. A charming black velvet dress for afternoon wear shown by Paulette had a monk’s collar of ermine, ermine cuffs, and a bunch of ermine tails just below the waist-line on the left side. * * * * A frock of navy taffeta spotted in yellow with a natural waist-line and a full skirt had a turn-over collar, pointed at the back, and cuffs that tied with ribbon ends, the collar and cuffs being of yellow silk. Tied cuffs of green silk embroidered with red and a collar of matching embroidery formed the trimming for a simple black frock. * * * * Brown velvet lined and stitched with gold fashioned a smart frock which had a full skirt with a “wired-out” effect showing the gold lining as the wearer moved. Black velvet appeared again in another full-skirted frock finely spotted in pink and having a hem border of round motifs in pink. * * * * Red and blue embroideries on grey wool lace made a gay and unusual looking frock. A pretty green dress for day time wear was made with a box-pleated skirt, the top of each pleat being marked by a button and a waist-belt being drawn through just beneath the buttons. This frock was finished with one of the fashionable little embroidered collars. * * * * A green plaid ring velvet afternoon frock was finished with tie, cuffs and pockets of matching green plaid silk. Japanese embroideries in fine silks showing typical Japanese scenes appeared on a navy silk frock with a cross-over bodice and kimono sleeves. * * * * Gold bands and embroidery in gold, giving the effect of the materials being studded with gold, formed the decoration of a black crepe frock, which had a gold vest and a full-pleated skirt.
