AERIAL HONEYMOON
MRS CAPTAIN BUCKLEY PILOTS PLANE. (Per United Press Association.) Blenheim, December 17. In the course of their honeymoon trip, Captain Maurice Buckley and Mrs Buckley arrived at Blenheim from Feilding yesterday afternoon in an Avro-Avian machine lent for the occasion by' Captain Ken Hall, of Hororata. The flying conditions were perfect. After leaving Feilding, Captain Buckley handed over the controls to his bride, who flew the machine all the way to Blenheim, thus achieving the distinction of becoming the first woman to pilot a plane across Cook Strait. The young couple were warmly welcomed to Blenheim and “took off” for Christchurch amid showers of confetti.
