HOUSES UNROOFED

GALE IN NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydney, December 17. A message from Maitland states that a severe cyclonic storm caused serious damage. Many houses were unroofed by the force of the wind. One roof was lifted into the air and landed on the top of a two-storey building. The hospital was unroofed and there was soon a foot of water in tho rooms. Many business places were severely .damaged and all traffic was brought to a standstill and public utilities interrupted.— Australian Press Association.
