BOWLS.

SATURDAY’S GAMES. Three inter-club matches were played in Invercargill on Saturday and, although the greens were still inclined to be heavy after the rain experienced earlier in the week, some very interesting games were witnessed. Te Rangi defeated Waikiwi by 28 points on the Te Rangi green, the home team winning three of the four rinks. Northend defeated Bluff on the Northend green by the substantial margin of 35 points, the home team winning all four rinks. On the Waihopai green Southland defeated the home team by 36 points in a six rink game the visitors winning four of the rinks. Details are as follows: TE RANGI v. WAIKIWI.

MURIHIKU CUP. A strong team from the Invercargill Club played Northend (the holders) on Saturday evening, when a very enjoyable game resulted. The Northend players, however, proved too strong for the Invercargill men, who were behind for most of the game. Following are the scores: N.E. I. W. Reid, J. A. Wesney, J. Holloway, S. Smith (s) 27 H. Hay, T. Robertson, E. Smith, F. Stevenson (s) 13 The next challenge in order is from the Mat aura Club. This game will probably be played on Saturday, December 22. WEDNESDAY’S PLAY. The following players will represent Southland against Waihopai on the Southland green on Wednesday at 2.30 p.m.:— Black, England, McAlpine, Strang (s) ; Dowling, Leggatt, Murchison, Stewart (s); Brown, Pollard. NEW YEAR TOURNAMENT. Mr D. H. Thomson, secretary of the Southland Centre, states that the entries for the New Year tournament show excellent promises. Apart from local rinks, entries have been received from J. T. Calder, Phoenix Club, Oamaru; W. Campbell, Meadowbank; J. Robertson, Oamaru; A. Tomson, Caversham; J. McCurdy, St. Kilda; W.
