BLIND BOYS’ BAND

THANKS FOR INVERCARGILL HELP. To the Editor. Sir, —On behalf of the Trustees of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, I beg the liberty of your columns to express to our many kind friends in Invercargill, our very hearty thanks for the hospitality and generosity recently accorded to our Blind Boys’ Band and myself during our visit. We could not have had a more delightful time, nor more enthusiastic audience than we had at Invercargill. It would be difficult indeed to express our thanks individually to all who helped with the entertainment of the boys, and with the organization of the concert, and we can only mention the Rotary Club, the Press and the citizens who so kindly billeted the boys. With wonderful kindness our friends saw that expenses were kept down to a minimum, so that the institute benefits by the amount of £5O 7/9. At present it would appear that the total receipts of the band tour will amount to almost exactly £l,OOO. This is a magnificent addition to the funds of the institute, particularly in view of the fact that the tour was embarked upon not for the purpose of raising funds, but as a demonstration of the results of the work which we are enabled to carry on, through the generosity of our many friends throughout New Zealand. The boys arrived back on December 8, after an exceedingly delightful time, and once more I wish to say how grateful we all are. Clutha N. Mackenzie, Director.
