SCHEME FOR BRITAIN WORLD-WIDE ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN ENCOURAGING SUPPORT (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (llec. 5.5 p.m.) London, December 13. The Government is sponsoring a scheme to form a large new association to advertise throughout the world and attract visitors to Britain. Captain D. Harking, Under-Sec-retary for the Home Department, states that the scheme' is being overwhelmingly supported. They are aiming at the formation of an association with an income of £30,000 a year for five years. France last year had 1,800,000 visitors who spent at least from £75,000,000 to £100,000,000 in the country. Britain only received 412,000 tourists. The inaugural meeting will be held at Mansion House on December 20. The Daily Express, in an editorial, states that the Government should supply the cost of the scheme. Over-taxed industries cannot shoulder the expense of meeting the State-subsidized propaganda that draws thousands of Americans to France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland —anywhere except to Britain.—Australian Press Association.
