WINNING ON MERIT

NEW ZEALAND BUTTER GREAT RETAIL DEMAND AT HOME IMPLICIT TRUST IN GRADING (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, November 20. Mr. W. G. K. Wright, editor of the New Zealand Dairyman, has returned from London via Australia from attending the world dairy conference in London. He also visited Denmark, Holland, Germany and Sweden in connection with the latest developments in dairying. He said he was astonished to know how well informed were British and continental dairying interests, both manufacturing and merchanting, in New Zealand industry. Dairy factories in England and on the Continent seen by Mr. Wright were ahead of New Zealand in point of appearance, but were not nearly so well equipped, New Zealand being well in advance in this respect. Publicity with respect to New Zealand butter by the Empire Marketing Board and Dairy’ Produce Board was bearing splendid fruit. The New Zealand butter industry was well established and the article was in great retail demand, testifying that New Zealand was manufacturing on sound lines. He was impressed by the confidence shown by the British trade in New Zealand grading certificates, vast quantities of produce being bought and re-sold without being seen in absolute confidence in the skill and integrity of the grading. Everything was working smoothly in London in regard to the merchanting of New Zealand produce.
