SUNKEN GOLD

ARMADA TREASURE SHIP. QUEST TO BE RESUMED. Lady Edith Fox-Pitt and Mrs. Leask are about to resume their research for the contents of the Armada treasure galleon Florencia, which was sunk in Tobermory Bay, off the coast of Scotland, in 1588. It is believed that the Florencia carried the pay of the Armada and of the Spanish army in Flanders, totalling £45,000 a day, and also the crown for the first “Spanish King of England.” Relics already recovered by Colonel Foss, the lessee of the wreck, from the Duke of Argyll, include pieces of eight, pewter pots, weapons and a medallion. Lady Fox-Pitt, who is 54 years of age, is a daughter of the Bth Marguess of Queensberry.
