LUMSDEN NOTES

CRICKET. (From Our Correspondent.) On Saturday the Lumsden cricket team travelled to Waikaia to play the local team in the Northern-Eastern competition. The weather was not favourable for cricket, several heavy showers being experienced during the afternoon. Waikaia batted first and made 109 for the loss of four wickets when the side declared its innings closed. N. Windle (65) and A. Smith (21) were the highest scorers. Lumsden then went to the crease and had one wicket down for 66 when stumps were drawn. (McKenzie 29, J. Ogilvy 18). The result of the match was therefore a draw. The following are the scores: —
