CONVERTED A CAR

YOUTH WITH A REPUTATION. (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, November 12. “It’s no use whatever giving this youth a chance as he is somewhat of the larrikin type, lies profusely, and is apt to get into mischief all the time. Evidently he is out to have as gay a life as he can.” This description was applied by SeniorSergeant Whitehouse to Alfred John Buhek, aged 19, when charged with converting a car and driving it to Foxton. He was seen by the owner’s brother and a smart arrest was effected. Accused who was recently released from the Borstal received a month’s imprisonment with hard labour. He left the dock smiling.
