YACHT CAPSIZES
THE OTAGO HARBOUR MISHAP. UNSUCCESSFUL SEARCH FOR BODIES. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, November 12. A systematic search for the bodies of the yachtsmen drowned in the harbour tragedy this mornning and afternoon was without result. The inquest on the body of James Jeffrey was opened for the purpose of identification, the age of deceased being given as 58. As a result of the most serious tragedy of its kind that has ever occurred in Otago Harbour, six yachtsmen lost their lives off Quarantine Island early on Sunday afternoon. They were occupants of the 16 foot yacht Bute, which, shortly after leaving the island, was caught by a sudden squall and overturned, all except one of the crew being drowned. Those who lost Iheir lives were: JAMES JEFFREY, aged 55, of 87 Shetland street, Kaikorai. ALEXANDER JEFFREY, aged 20, a son of the former. ROBERT JEFFREY, aged 19, also a son. ARCHIBALD BELL, aged 24, of 36b Ann street, Roslyn. JAMES BELL, aged 20, a brother of the former. SIDNEY ALEXANDER (“PADDY") HARBOUR NE, aged 21, of 53 Brighton street, Kaikorai. The sole survivor was: VICTOR DUELL, aged 19, of Norwood street, North-East Valley.
