GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL

ANNUAL SPORTS MEETING. The Southland Girls’ High School’s sports which were recently postponed owing to. the weather, were continued at Rugby Park* yesterday under more favourable conditions. The organizers of the events are to be congratulated on the success of the afternoon, while the enthusiasm of the competitors was, in itself, a pleasing feature. Mr J. Page was an efficient starter, Mr T. D. Pearce, Mr R. McKenzie and the Rev. J. L. Robinson acting as judges. The senior championship was won by Miss Dorothy Squires, with Miss N. Clare runner-up. Miss Jean Anderson was winner of the junior championship and Miss S. McPherson runner-up. The gold medal donated by Mr R. McKenzie for the best bicycle rider was -presented to Miss Jean Bryce.
