MOTOR TOUR
CAIRO TO CAPE TOWN. JOURNEY OCCUPIES FORTY DAYS. Cape Town, October 10. The young South African, Mr Gerry Bouwer, with his wife, completed his motor trip from Cairo to Cape Town, in 40 days. Against his wish his wife stowed away in the car. At Cairo thousands participated in a wild welcome to him. The Administrator stressed the fact that they had accomplished a feat which many considered impossible. In South Africa there had been several famous rides, and this was one of the most famous. Mr Bouwer said that in a few years the great North road would be open.—Australian Press Association.
