AUDACIOUS GUNMAN
SHOOTS YOUNG MAN. THOUSANDS WITNESS INCIDENT. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, September 8. Early last night in the crowded Rawson Place near the railway station, one of the busiest spots in the city, Leslie Grano, aged 21, who was walking with several other youths, was accosted by a stranger who told them to get out of this. Grano and his companions thinking it was a jest laughed. The stranger drew a revolver and shot Grano, who was sent to the hospital in a dying condition. The crime was apparently without motive. It was committed in the presence of thousands of onlookers who made no attempt to detain the gunman.— Australian Press Association.
