RIVERSDALE STOCK SALE. A QUIET MARKET. A special stock sale held at Riversdale yesterday did not attract a very large attendance and the market generally was quieter than it has been for some time past. The entry included a fair number of pens of full and failing-mouth ewes, but for these there was very little inquiry and the prices offering were a good deal below recent market rates. Very few pens were disposed of. A few pens of well-grown wether hoggets were forward and realized from 7/5 to 29/-. The only two lines of ewe hoggets offered were passed in at 35/6 and 35/9 respectively. There was also little inquiry for wethers, but a pen of particularly prime heavy sorts offered by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., on account of Mr W. McKay, Otama, realized 43/9. Sales were:— New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.: 124 f. and f.m. ewes passed at 26/9; 140 do. passed at 23/3; 49 fat wethers at 43/9; 95 f.m. ewes at 22/2; 50 f. and f.m. ewes passed at 24/-.
