FOR THE POOR
APPEAL IN AUCKLAND. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, July 16. Old clothes given by the Auckland public to the poor and needy in response to the appeal of the Commercial Travellers and Warehousemens’ Association on Saturday have been valued on an auction basis at no less than £10,500. With the cash proceeds of a drive, namely, £1,600, and the Government’s subsidy of £2OO, the nett benefit to the poor of the city and suburbs is approximately £12,300.
