POLITICAL STRIFE
SOUTH AFRICAN LABOUR PARTY. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Cape Town, July 14. The Labour split will not precipitate a Government crisis, according to Mr J. de V. Roos, Minister of Justice, who states that the Premier will merely acknowledge the letter announcing the expulsions of Labour Ministers from the Labour Party and the pact will continue until the general election. Mr Roos, however, drops a bombshell for the Labourites by declaring that the Nationalists will expect half a dozen seats in Transvaal at present allotted to Labour. This may precipitate a Labour breakaway from the pact.—Australian Press Association.
