POLITICS IN MALTA

APPROPRIATION BILL BLOCKED. CRITICAL SITUATION ARISES. Malta, July 12. Au emergency meeting of the Senate was held at which it was expected the Appropriation Bill would pass with the support of the clergy representatives, but the Opposition again blocked the measure. Crowds in the Palace Square were excited and the situation looked ugly. The police were strongly reinforced but with difficulty succeeded in keeping the demonstration within bounds. The delay in the passing of the Bill is swelling the ranks of the unemployed and the situation is becoming critical.— Australian Press Association.
