SPANISH CONSPIRACY DENIED. London, July 12. The Spanish Ambassador announces that the Government denies the reports of troubles in Spain.—Australian Press Association. TROUBLE SPEEDILY SUBDUED. Madrid, July 14. General de Rivera has returned. Questioned by journalists regarding the plot he said the whole business was finished. Small groups tried to stir up trouble in Barcelona, V alencia, and other ’districts in connection with the inauguration of the new Canfranc tunnel in the Pyrenees, but it was speedily crushed and their ringleaders were now in custody.—Australian Press Association— United Service. A message published last week stated: Reports via Bordeaux state that the Spanish Government discovered a conspiracy organized by syndicalists and Communists against King Alfonso and General de Rivera whose lives were to have been attempted at the opening of a tunnel under the Pyrenees at Canfranc on July 17. The Press has been asked to minimize the importance of the affair.
