WAIKAKA NOTES. M.U., 1.0.0. F. The monthly meeting of the Loyal Waikaka Lodge was held last Tuesday night, when N.G. Bro. O. Black presided over a fair attendance of members. Visitors were also present from the Loyal Tapanui Lodge. The election of officers for the ensuing six months took place, and the competition for the various chairs was particularly keen, the ballot resulting in the election of the following:—Bro. T. Maslin, N.G.; V.G., Bro. T. Rankin; Warden, Bro. N. Kelly; E.S., Bro. W. G. Asher; Guardian, Bro. J. R. Henderson. Five new members were initiated to the Order. The officers of the Loyal Tokanui Lodge officiated. WELCOME HOME AT GREENVALE. On Wednesday evening last a happy night was spent when over 100 people assembled at the homestead to welcome home Mr F. Ussher and his bride. Friends were present from all the surrounding districts between Gore and Kelso. On their arrival the visitors were heartily received by Mr and Mrs Ussher, who did everything possible to make the evening the success which it undoubtedly was. The young people adjourned to the barn, which was cleared for dancing. The non-dancers enjoyed a game of cards at the house. The music for the dance was supplied by Mr Imlach, assisted by Messrs G. Swanson and E. Terry, while Mr T. Downey had control of the floor. The Waikaka footballers turned out in full force and took advantage of the occasion to make a small presentation to Mr Ussher, who has been their coach this season. In presenting Mr Ussher with a handsome oak clock on their behalf, Mr T. McDonald expressed great pleasure at being present, and welcomed Mrs Ussher to their midst and hoped they could enlist her also as one of their supporters. He also referred to the conscientious work carried out by Mr Ussher since he took the footballers in hand, the result of which is noticeable in the matches. Mr Ussher suitably replied on behalf of Mrs Ussher and himself.
