GISBORNE TRAMS
SYSTEM TO BE ABOLISHED. (Per United Press Association.) Gisborne, June 29. The electors of Gisborne carried a poll to-day by a majority of 172 votes to abolish the tramway system. Two previous polls taken on the ratepayers’ vote were invalidated on technicalities.
The figures to-day were—For abolition, 1286; against, 1124. The Council intends to establish a municipal bus service.
