BUS PASSENGERS

INSURANCE AGAINST ACCIDENTS LEGISLATION SOUGHT. (Per United Press Association.) Hamilton, May 28. A deputation from the Morrinsville Chamber of Commerce this afternoon requested the Premier to promote legislation compelling all motor vehicles plying for hire to insure against accident to passengers. Mr McGregor, president of the Chamber, cited an accident in which a bus running from Morrinsville to Auckland capsized. One of the occupants was permanently injured and is unable to obtain compensation as the vehicle was not insured. Mr. Coates said that the matter certainly seemed important. He would get into it on his return to Wellington, although it was very important that the risk to be covered by insurance would mean extra charges.
