Fashions on the Slant

(From Our Correspondent.) Fashion follows a sloping line at present. Many dresses which are made “on the straight,” are trimmed “on the slant,” and in some models “the slant” is woven into the material. Sloping frills appear on many dresses for day and evening wear, and coats are now showing belts which are arranged diagonally instead of going straight across. These belts are used chiefly for decoration, and are not intended to hold any fullness of material. Slanting belts also appear on some dresses. A black dress of a fine silk and wool material had a belt of dark red padded silk, the one end of which was sewn in with the right shoulder seam, the other piece being attached to the left side of the frock, about a third of the way down from the waist.
