News from Charlotte (North Carolina) states that the claims of Governor Smith’s supporters, that he is the choice by an overwhelming majority of North Carolina Democrats, seem to be defeated by the figures of two-thirds of the counties of the State, At present the reports indicate that there are five delegates against Governor Smith for every four supporting him.—Australian Press Association. COMMUNIST PARTY’S NOMINEES. (Rec. 10.40 p.m.) New York, May 28. The Communist Party will nominate Mr William Foster for the United States Presidency and Mr Benjamin Gitlow for VicePresident.—Australian Press Association— United Service.
