Mataroa, indefinite. GENERAL NOTES. There were no major shipping movements at the port yesterday. The s.s. W'itere (W. B. Dixon) arrived from the mutton bird islands at 3.30 p.m. yesterday. The Britannia (C. Hansen) sailed for Stewart Island at 4.30 p.m. yesterday. Fourteen years ago to-day the wreck of the Empress of Ireland occurred. The Oreti is due back at Invercargill on Wednesday from Dunedin. According to advice received from Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co., the Storm is due at Bluff on Thursday to load for Dunedin, Timaru, Wellington and Wanganui. The Union Shipping Co. announce that the Manuka hae been delayed during her trip to Wellington. She was expected to arrive there last evening, sailing at 8 p.m. to-day for Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. She is due here on Saturday morning, sailing in the evening for Melbourne direct. The Katoa is expected to sail for Dunedin this afternoon. The Karetu is expected to leave Sydney on Thursday for Bluff direct, being due here on Tuesday next. The Kurow leaves Auckland this evening for Westport, Dunedin and Bluff, due here about Wednesday, June 6. The Hurunui is expected to sail for Timaru on Thursday morning. Messrs J, G. Ward and Co. announce that the Tongariro will leave Liverpool on August 18 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff, due here about September 28. Messrs Henderson and Co. advise that the Port Curtis is allotted to load meat and general cargo for London and West Coast of the United Kingdom ports, being expected at Bluff on June 11. The Port Sydney is also scheduled to load meat, butter and cheese for London on the same date. The Canadian Challenger which left Montreal on May 1 is due at Bluff about June 25 with Canadian cargo. The National Mortgage and Agency Co. advises that the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co.’s new motor vessel Taranaki, is due at Bluff on June 30 to discharge London cargo. The same company also advises that the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co.’s steamer Tainui will load meat and general cargo at Bluff on June 20 for London and Continental ports. With a cargo of guano from Walpole Island the Kanna is due at Bluff about June 20. The Waikawa, which sailed - from Los Angeles on May 15 for Apia and Napier is due at the latter port on June 11. She will then proceed to Bluff where she is expected to arrive about June 23. TRANSPACIFIC CARGO STEAMERS. The Union Steamship Company advise the following movements of transpacific cargo steamers: — Waiotapu, for Pacific Coast ports left Papeete May 22 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Melbourne and Sydney, thence Newcastle, Vancouver direct.. Due Auckland June 2 and Wellington June 8. Waikawa left Los Angeles May 15 for Apia, Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff and New Plymouth thence Westport, Suva, Vancouver. Due Apia June 2 and Napier June 11. Hauraki, leaves San Francisco June 1 for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney thence Suva, Vancouver. Due Auckland June 22 and Wellington June 29. Waitemata, from Sydney via Fiji arrived Vancouver May 23. Proceeds thence San Francisco and Los Angeles to complete loading for Wellington. Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. Clears Los Angeles June 15 and due Wellington July 10. Waihemo, leaves Suva May 31 for Vancouver, San Francisco and Los Angeles to load for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. Clears Los Angeles July 12, due Auckland August.s and Wellington August 11. Wairuna, leaves Sydney June 11 for Fiji, Fanning Island, Vancouver, San Francisco and Los Angeles to load for Auckland, Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin New Plymouth, also Bluff or Nelson if sufficient inducement. 1 Clears Los Angeles August 17.
