DANCE AT MOKORETA. (From Our Correspondent.) An enjoyable fancy dress ball was held in the Public Hall, Mokoreta, on Friday evening in aicl of the hall fund, there being a large attendance present. Excellent music for dancing was supplied by Leckie’s Orchestra, while the duties of M.C. were capably and efficiently carried out by Messrs G. Allan and Carswell, who kept things swinging merrily throughout the piece. There was a large number in fancy dress, which were most original and artistic, the prizes being awarded as follows: Ladies, Miss M. Knapp (night); men, Mr D. McDonald (Indian). GOLF. The following is the draw for the foursome match to be played over 18 holes by the lady members of the Wyndham Golf Club to-day (Tuesday) : Mrs A. Ross and Miss M. Macpherson v. Miss M. Baird and Mrs J. Robertson; Mesdames C. E. Davey and L. B. Borrow v. Mesdames D. Crawford and L. Harley; Miss B. McLauchlan and Mrs E. Walker v. Mrs H. J. Murphy and Miss L. Richardson; Mrs W. T. Sheehan and Miss A. Bogue v. Misses F. Fletcher and A. Ayson; Mesdames W. S. Bennet to and P. J. de la Mare v. Mesdames F. Williams and F. Ball. To-morrow the men will play a bogey match the draw being as follows:—G. Herbert v. Edie; Palmer v. P. Barnett; F. Ball v. A. McKenzie; M. Tangney v. F. Lindsay; G. Alexander v. D. Macpherson; J. Hannan v. M. C. Rice; J. Henderson v. E. J. Traynor. FOOTBALL. The following team will represent the Wyndham first grade fifteen in the match against Pioneer at Gore on Wednesday:— B. Richardson, V. The following will represent Wyndham B grade in a match against Hokonui B at Wyndham on Wednesday: Misses Lily Maguire, Alice Heydon, Isla Leitch, Irene Ford, Mona Peacock, Mavis Sherbourne, Phyllis Milne, Annie Smith, Audrey Crighton, Reatha Johnstone, Betty Hunter. SOCIAL AT BROWNS. (From Our Correspondent.) A farewell social and dance was tendered to Mr A. Pope in the Browns Hall last week. During his few years at Brown# he has been to the fore in everything that was for the welfare of the district and the residents and friends felt they could not let Mr Pope leave without some tangible memento of his stay here. Mr J. West in presenting him with a gold watch wished him every success in the future. Messrs McCallum, Birss and Mclntyre also spoke of the popularity of their guest. Mr Pope suitably returned thanks. Mr A. D. Brown was M.C. and kept things going in good style and also contributed a song which was very much appreciated. The music for the dancing was supplied by Brown’s Orchestra and extras were played by Mr A. Birss. HOKONUI NEWS. EUCHRE PARTY. The usual fortnightly euchre party and dance was held in the hall last Tuesday evening. There was a fair attendance and a happy time was spent. The prizes were won as follows: Ladies, Miss R. Smith; men, Mr R. Mcßae. Consolation prizes: Ladies, Mrs A. Smith; men, Mr D. Wilson. Music for the dance was supplied by local friends.
