KILLING FOR MILLINERY VALUE. AN INTERNATIONAL PROTEST. London, May 24. The Times Geneva correspondent says the International Bird Preservation Conference has successfully concluded and has protested against the killing of birds solely for their millinery value. It resolved to recommend the complete cessation of bird hunting during the mating and rearing periods and the use of repeating shotguns, the shooting of wild fowl from motor boats It also strongly disapproved of commerce in wild birds arid eggshells and recommended an international convention compelling the cessation of all shooting, trapping or other destruction and the sale or exposure for sale in countries of the Southern Hemisphere from August 1 until the autumn of the shooting season.^—Times Cable.
