The Dominion Meteorologist last night issued the following forecast:—An intense anti-cyclone is still covering the New Zealand area and the Tasman Sea. A moderate cyclone is situated north-west of Auckland peninsula. South-east wind in the Cook Strait region. Elsewhere east to northeasterly. Moderate south of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura and moderate to strong with gale force in places thence northwards. Rough seas north from Kaikoura and in Cook Strait. Elsewhere moderate. Moderate to strong easterly winds in the Tasman Sea, increasing in the northern area with rough seas. Weather fair to fine south of Westport and Kaikoura. Exhaustive inquiries were made in Christchurch and Dunedin and the two officers returned to Wellington on Thursday evening to formulate their report on which action will be taken, if the report is favourable to the proposal.
