EMPIRE DAY
OBSERVANCE IN AUSTRALIA. (Rec. 7.40 p.m.) Sydney, May 24. Empire Day was celebrated in the city and all the country centres by patriotic gatherings addressed by Cabinet Ministers and leading citizens. The principal gathering in the city was held in Martin Place, where a great crowd assembled and was addressed by the State Governor and the Acting-Prime Minister. Similar demonstrations were held in all the States.—Australian Press Association.
