KING PLEASED
VISIT TO ALDERSHOT KEEN INTEREST IN TRAINING COMPLICATED MODERN WEAPONS (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright) Rugby, May 22. Lieutenant-General Sir David Campbell, general officer commanding in chief at Aidershot, has received a message from the King regarding a tour of inspection which his Majesty made of the Aidershot command last week. The King says he was gratified to see the various developments which had taken place affecting both the training and welfare of the troops. The inspection of the army vocational training centre greatly interested him and the facilities which it offered must be most helpful to soldiers shortly returning to civilian life. The past few years had seen a great advance in the science of warfare and he had been able to realize the ever-increasing demands on the intelligence of soldiers of to-day and he was impressed by the enthusiasm and skill displayed by all ranks in mastering the complicated machinery of modern weapons. During his visit he had been struck by the smart appearance and soldierly bearing of the troops.—British Official Wireless.
