FIFTY HOURS

NEW YORK TO SAN FRANCISCO. AEROPLANE AND TRAIN. New York, May 16. A national transportation system combining aeroplanes and fast trains is being inaugurated to cut the time from New York to San Francisco by exactly two days. There will be parallel rail and air services in order to avoid tiring passengers unduly by prolonged air flights. A tourist could start early in the morning from New Y’ork, fly all day to Chicago and there take a night train, get a comfortable sleep to Omaha, catching an aeroplane again next morning and finally arrive at San Francisco aboard the train 50 hours after leaving home. The Pennsylvania railways and National Air Transport Company with the Atchison-Topeka and Santa-fe railway in the west are handling the scheme.—United Service.
