RIVERSDALE NOTES
EUCHRE TOURNAMENT. The weekly euchre tournaments are taking on very well, and each evening the attendance is growing larger, which must be encouraging to the members of the Hall Committee. Last Tuesday week Mrs Nolan and Miss Smaill tied for the lady’s prize, but the cut showed Miss Smaill the winner, while the consolation went to Mrs J. McCubbin, both prizes being donated by Mr W. Kelly. The winning man was Mr J. Macpherson, and Mr J. McCubbin got the consolation. The prizes for the men were donated by Mr J. Green. Last Tuesday evening Miss Dillon received the lady’s prize, donated by Mr J. McCubbin, and Mrs J. Macpherson the consolation, also donated by Mr McCubbin, while Mr J. Currie and Mr R. Matthews tied for first, but at the play-off Mr Matthews was the winner. Mr W. Ryan got the consolation prize, donated by Mr Caldwell.
Last Friday evening a plain and fancy dress ball was held in the Drill Hall and was very largely attended. Visitors from Gore, Mandeville, Balfour, Lumsden and Waikaia were present. During the evening prizes for the best fancy costume went to Miss McGuigan and Mr J. Currie. Currie’s orchestra supplied the music.
