HOKONUI NOTES

HARVEST BALL HELD.

(From Our Correspondent.)

The weather here lately has been very mild. The main occupation nowadays seems to be trapping rabbits. Everyone is anxious to make good cheques and at the same time rid their farms of the rabbits. The annual harvest home ball was held in the hall on Friday evening, May 11, and was a great success. Excellent arrangements had been made by the committee and the evening was voted one of the best yet held. Music for rhe ball was supplied by Misses Brown and McMaster and Messrs Brown and J. McMaster. Mr J. Smith capably carried out the duties of M.C. The usual fortnightly euchre party will be held on Tuesday evening, May 15. The local football team played a match with the Hedgehope team at Hokonui on Saturday afternoon, May 12 when the visiting team secured a win by 9 points to 3.
