Mataroa, indefinite. GENERAL NOTES. The S.S. Rita arrived at 4.45 yesterday from the Hazelburg Group with II tons of fish. The S.S. Calm arrived from Lyttelton, via Timaru, on Sunday evening. She is discharging 150 tons of general cargo and loading 250 tons of milk, grain, cereals, etc., and was expected to sail last evening. Arriving from Auckland, via northern ports, the Kurow is discharging about 800 tons of sugar and general cargo and loading I, tons of general cargo including paper, milk, grain, cereals and machinery. She is expected to sail Wednesday. The ss. Opihi arrived from Westport with 600 tons coal. On completion of discharge she sails for Port Craig to load timber for the north. She is expected to sail to-day. The schooner Brittania (C. Hanson) arrived from Halfmoon Bay at noon Sunday with 300 cases of frozen fish. The cutter Comet (W. Bailey) arrived from Ruapuke with a full load of flax fibre. The Oreti was expected to load at Port Chalmers yesterday for Halfmoon Bay. She then proceeds to Dunedin where she loads on Friday, due back at Invercargill on Saturday leaving for Port Craig on Sunday. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co. advise that the Calm which arrived yesterday morning, sailed last evening for Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Wanganui. Messrs J. G. Ward and Co., local agents for the A. and A. Line, advise that the Pipiriki is scheduled to sail from New York on May 22, loading at Montreal prior to New York. The Opihi is expected to sail late to-night for Port Craig, afterwards proceeding to Dunedin. The Kurow sails for the north this evenThe Kaituna, according to advice from the Union Shipping Co., was to sail from Dunedin last evening for Bluff where she is due to-day, sailing on Thursday for Wellington direct. The Waikawa is due at Bluff on June 23. After completing loading at San Francisco and Vancouver, she was expected to leave Los Angeles yesterday. The Hurunui from Port Chalmers is due at Bluff on Thursday. The Northumberland from London is due at Bluff early in July. The Canadian Challenger left Montreal on May 1 with Canadian cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. The vessel is due at Auckland about June 10, and about June 25. The Zealandic is expected to sail this evening from Bluff. The Manuka left Wellington on Saturday for Melbourne, leaving there on the 23rd for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. After leaving here on June 2 she returns to Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin and then withdraws for her annual survey. She resumes at Dunedin on July 11, sailing that day for Melbourne via Wellington. No alteration has as yet been advised in the itinerary of the motor vessel Taranaki which is scheduled to leave London on Friday being expected at Bluff towards the end of June. The Raranga loads at Wellington on the 26th taking Bluff cargo by coastal transhipment for New York, Boston and London. Messrs Henderson and Co. announce that the Port Sydney from Australian ports is due at Bluff on June 11 to load refrigerated and general cargo for London and that the Port Curtis is also due on the same day to discharge general cargo from London and New York, afterwards loading for London and West Coast of the United Kingdom ports. DREDGE CONDEMNED. The Harbour Board’s Preestman dredge, after undergoing survey in dry dock at PortChalmers has been condemned as unfit for

further service. The dredge was built in Dunedin in 1867, and fitted for bucket dredging. Later she was altered and the buckets superseded by the Preestman plant. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE. The following vessels were expected to be within wireless range last evening:— Auckland.—Fernlane, Queen Eleanor, Waipahi, Maunganui, Omana, Nuela. Wellington:—Maori, Wahine, Ngaio, Arahura, Tamahine, Marama, Niagara, Aorangi, Maimoa, Pleiodon, Mesopotamia, Maui Pomare (via Apia), Manuka, Kia Ora, Wairuna, Kintyre, Kawatiri, Wirral.
