THEFT OF RING

CHARGE AGAINST TAXI-DRIVER. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, April 26. The theft of a diamond ring valued at £750 from Jenness and Partridge, jewellers, by Trevor Leonard Richard Cunningham, aged 28, a taxi-driver, was related in Court to-day. Evidence was given that he went to complainant’s shop, where he stated his name was Lowry, a racehorse owner. He was shown a ring which he took to the door, presumably to see it better, and then ran away with it. Accused was seen later in the afternoon by Detective Jarrold showing the ring to someone in a bar. When the accused saw the detective he put the ring down one of his socks. He pleaded guilty and was committea for sentence to the Supreme Court.
