STEEL HOUSES SCHEME

GLASGOW FACTORY TO CLOSE. - London, March 12. In spite of the Governments’ purchase of 2000 houses, the scheme of Lord Weir, managing director of G. and J. Weir, Limited, Glasgow, for the mass production of steel houses, which it was thought would be suitable in the Dominions, as well as for housing new estates, has collapsed. The factory at Glasgow will be closed after three months’ futile effort to popularise the scheme in the face of opposition from local authorities and of labour difficulties.
