WALSH ISLAND
GOVERNMENT WARNS EMPLOYEES. HOPES FOR AMICABLE AGREEMENT. Sydney, March 24. The Premier, Mr T. R. Bavin, has advised the employees on Walsh Island that if they do not return to work on Monday on prestrike conditions Cabinet will take steps on Tuesday to dispose of the enterprise. The Sydney Labour Council has now intervened in the dispute, and the secretary, Mr Garden, says he is hopeful that a settlement will be amicably reached.—A. and N.Z, SETTLEMENT ANNOUNCED. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, March 25. The Walsh Island strike has been settled. A mass meeting of men decided to return to work under the terms and conditions prevailing prior to the stoppage. Work will be resumed on Monday.—A. and N.Z.
