MOTOR CYCLISTS
SOCIAL AT GORE. Last evening the Gore Centre of the Southland Motor Cycle Club held its social gathering in the Gaiety Hall. A large number of local members and several representatives from Invercargill were present and during the evening matters of interest to club members were discussed. The president of the Gore section, Mr D. Harris, presided, and in proposing the toast of “The Club,” referred to the satisfactory increase that had taken place in the membership of the Gore section. Although only recently formed, the section now had 40 members, and these were enthusiastic over the outings held. Not only had they derived a great deal of pleasure from the runs, but they had also found with the organisation of the club at their disposal that they derived many benefits which as non-members they would not have received. He expressed the hope that the club would prosper and that the Gore section would develop into one of the strongest in the club. The toast was responded to by Messrs M. M. Macdonald and C. Wren, of Invercargill. A number of other toasts were also honoured. During the evening an excellent programme of music was given by Winton’s orchestra, while songs were contributed by Messrs G. Paterson and E. Ottrey. The gathering passed off very pleasantly and served to strengthen the interest of club members in Gore.
