GAMING HOUSE RAIDED

THREE MEN CONVICTED. (Per United Press /Association.) Wellington, January 25 Detectives raided the Centra) Hotel, Lambton Quay, this morning and arrested three men, Vincent Eric Reeve, a motorman, aged 30 years, Horace Haycock, a barman and upholsterer, aged 28 years, and Bernard Sullivan, a barman, aged 33 years. This afternoon the three men appeared in the Magistrate’s Court before Mr E. Page, S.M., to answer charges against the gaming laws. Reeve and Haycock pleaded guilty to carrying on the business of bookmakers, and Sullivan pleaded guilty to keeping and using the public bar of the Central Hotel as a common gaming house. Reeve wan fined £3O and Haycock and Sullivan were each fined £2O. Fourteen days were allowed in which to pay the fine, in default one month's imprisonment in each case.
