MENZIES FERRY
BACHELORS AND SPINSTERS BALL. (From Our Correspondent.) The Menzies Ferry Public Hall was the scene of a very successful bachelors and spinsters ball held on Friday evening. The climatic conditions were ideal for the event with the result that a very large attendance was present from all surrounding districts including visitors from Mataura, Edendale and Wyndham. A feature worthy of note was the beautiful streamer decorations, which were most artistically arranged by Mr George Williamson, of Wyndham Ridges, whose work in this direction was most highly commented upon by all present. The Grand March, consisting of upwards of 50 couples was led off by Mr James Eraser and Miss N. McLellan (chairman and chairlady) to the strains of Duerden’s Orchestra (Invercargill) who carried out the musical part of the programme in a very excellent manner. Extras were played by Mr J. Crosbie, junr. Messrs James Fraser, T. Fenton and J. Crosbie carried out the duties of floormasters and kept the ball rolling merrily until about 2 a.m., when a very enjoyable function was brought to a close.
