GOVERNMENT OFFICES WRECKED.

(Rec. 1 a.m.)

Brisbane, August 14.

An explosion at midnight on Saturday wrecked the office of the Criminal Investigation Department, Elizabeth street. The tremendous force of the explosion strewed the streets in the vicinity with sheets of iron and masonry. Luckily no one was injured. The cause of the explosion is a mystery, but the origin is supposed to have been a quantity of explosives stored on the premises.—A. and N.Z.
