COUNCIL VACANCY

ANOTHER CANDIDATE

MR. T. O’BYRNE TO STAND.

When he stepped off the express on Saturday evening on his return to Invercargill from an important mission in Wellington, Mr. Tom O’Byrne was met by a large and representative deputation of ratepayers who requested him to consent to nomination for the seat on the Invercargill Borough Council rendered vacant by Councillor Geddes’s resignation. Mr. O’Byrne, who has previously occupied a seat at the council table, acceded to the request of the deputation. As there will be al least two candidates for the vacant seat, an election will be necessary, the date fixed for the poll being August 31.
