BASKET BALL
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. A meeting was held on Friday evening at the Technical College. Mrs Mclnnes presided. There were also present Miss Pay, Miss Johnston, Miss White (secretary), and representatives from the following clubs:— Collegiate, Rata, St. John’s, Makarewa, Kiwi, Pirates, St. Peter’s Bible Class, Bluff and High School. A letter from the Otago .Association regarding a match to be placed on July 30 was received. Also a letter from the Education Board regarding the sale of basket and balls.—Left to the secretary to deal with. The secretary acknowledged receipt of a donation of £4 7/6 from High; School Club, as the result of a dance. The president expressed great disappointment at the result of the sale held on July 2. Only one or two clubs pint forth any great effort, consequently artiteles, especially cakes, for which there was demand, were very scarce. The president stated it would have been useless to keep the sale open, in the evening as advertised as there was not sufficient to offer the public, apart from the fact of there being no lighting arrangements. After a keen discussion, it was decided that another sale should be held on Saturday, July 23, each Club to have its own stall. In the meantime, the president will visit all senior clubs on the practice night and have a talk with them. The secretary was instructed to thank the Kindergarten Association for use of equipment for stalls. Matters in connection with the dance to be held in Smiths Hall on Wednesday July 13, were then gone into. High School Club was given permission to play Gore High School on July 16. Accounts amounting to £l2 14/. were passed for payment. The next meeting was fixed for Friday July 22.
