£500 MORE

FOR STEWART ISLAND WHARF. As a result of the petition signed by all the adult residents of Stewart Island praying for an additional grant of £2,000 for the new wharf, the secretary of the Southland League received a telegram from Mr J. In his telegram Mr Hamilton states: — “I have been working hard during the week endeavouring to get the balance of the money required. The Marine Department have promised a further £5OO and the Tourist Department may possibly find the remainder.”
