FILMS IN SCHOOLS

PROPOSAL NOT FAVOURED. (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, July 8. The headmasters of primary schools in Palmerston North are in accord with the recent decision of the Auckland Education Board not to entertain the exhibition of educational films to school children until such time as facilities were provided for showing films in school buildings. The value of educational films was fully appreciated, but it was considered the atmosphere of theatres was not conducive to learning. When children attend a theatre, the whole afternoon is broken into and the abrupt change in the system of education from that at school to that at a picture show is not worth the candle.
